Can anyone post ads and subscribe ?

Nortad classifieds is strictly within Canada. It offers free ad posting and ads search across the country. If you have a sound reason to post from outside Canada(example you are a future newcomer, an expatriate), send us a request.

What advantage do Registered members have over the unregistered ?

Registered members enjoy many privileges that unregistered guests do not.
For example, more image uploads, email responses, longer ad duration(ads by unregistered users display for 45 days only). Also, more options for editing, extending or deleting ones'ads, even make them permanent. Emailed ad notifications, ability to post announcements, newsletters and press releases. Ability to send email campaigns to their subscribers(mailing lists), and much more.

I posted an ad, but it is not published

You should receive an email with an activation link. You need to click the activation link for your ad to be published. If you have not received the email, please check your junk mail folder.

Another reason could be you misspelled your email address. Misspellings are common, so please be careful to proofread your email before submitting your ad. If you are certain your email is valid and was spelt correctly, please click here to have the activation link resent.

If you still cannot receive email to your business domain name, have a tech guy check your mail server's anti-spam firewall. Many are too restrictive and are killing your email reception silently. You have to balance the gains of a rigid email system vs loss of leads. We frequently have emails returned with errors like these:

SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:: host xxxxx.com [xx.xx.xxx.xxx]: 550 No Such User Here.

At least, implement some way to enable legitimate senders to be whitelisted(this can be done automatically). Many company websites use their own smtp servers to send mail(Mail Relay). In return, many mail reception systems block these by default. Enabling Mail Relay is another solution to receive silently blocked emails. Or perhaps use a web-based email service like Hotmail ,Gmail and Yahoo which are good at filtering bad emails while allowing good ones.

Sometimes,it could be our system has some email deliverability issues. In this case, usually we post a notice on the homepage to that effect and all ads posted will be manually activated later. In some rare cases, an email just gets lost in a blackhole; it can happen with the best email service in the world. So, we encourage you to just suck it up and re-submit your ad or contact us for support.

I signed up but did not receive the activation email

How can I attach a picture to an already submitted ad?

Registered users: Login and Look for [My Ads], click the ad you want to edit to load its details then hit the Edit link at the bottom of the ad.
The edition form that loads will enable you to attach a picture.

Unregistered users: Locate your ad thru its category and city, then hit the Edit link at the bottom of the ad once it is loaded.

If you want to attach a picture to your response, you can click on "Email me" link and upload a picture or a file(like a resume or cover letter) to the ad responder.
Attached files are not stored - they are sent to the ad poster directly.
If you still experience any difficulty uploading your picture, contact for support . Registerd users should login first then request support from within the members area. Only then they can attach a picture to their support request.

I uploaded an image but it does not show on ad

An attached picture may not show on ad if the picture name includes an apostrophe or other special characters. An image named St Clause BP #<2010> 6001961.jpg will not display with your ad. The site usually takes care of this but it will be helpful if you stick to a plain and simple naming pattern and replace any space with a dash. Click here to learn more about image uploading .

How can I respond to an ad ?

You can call, leave a reply on site or email the ad poster/responder from the site by hitting the Email me link below each ad.

How can I check my ad responses posted on site?

While logged in: From My Ads, click on an ad then hit the Replies link on top.
Unregistered users: Locate your ad thru its category and city, click on it,then hit the Replies link once the ad is loaded.

What is a permanent ad and how can I create one ?

A permanent ad has the same expiry date as your account. It serves as a permanent business card and will keep running so long as your Classifieds-Business account is still valid.
Since it serves as a business card,you are entitled to one permanent ad only.
To make an ad permanent,please follow these simple steps:

Locate My Ads.
Click on the ad you want to make permanent.
In the ad detail page that loads, hit Extend Ad at the bottom.
Once the ad extension form is loaded, check the Make this ad permanent checkbox.

Can I delete my own ads and cancel my account?

Absolutely. This is not facebook. When you Login to your account, you will find a [Cancel your subscription] link on your right. Click that link to confirm your decision. Deleting the account will also automatically delete all associated ads.

How can I delete my ad ?

Under each ad, there is a link below it entiled "Delete". Click it and input your email in the small box. You will be sent an email containing the deletion link. Click on it to delete. If you have an account, just login then select My Ads(right top box). Select the ad you want deleted and click it. Once the ad details load, scroll to the bottom of the ad where it says "Delete". No email verification is required for the latter option

I could not recover my password

Most likely the email you're trying to input is not the one associated with your account. For instance, you're inputting a Gmail or yahoo email address while you signed up with your business domain email or vice versa. Please include your account number when seeking support.

How can I extend an ad duration ?

While logged in, locate [My Ads] and click on the ad you want to extend.
In the ad detail page that loads, hit Extend Ad at the bottom.

How do I create a virtual business card ?

Sign up for a free business account by clicking here (or login and click Upgrade to Business Account).

Login and click on Create Store(store=online business listing).

The virtual business card is part of your free online business listing in Canada.

What are the Benefits of a virtual business card ?

A virtual business card is simply the online equivalent of the printed version.
Unlike the printed version, you reach a wider audience and maintain a constant internet presence without repetitive printing costs.

Do I have to reload my pics everytime a field is not filled out properly ?

To make ads look consize and good to readers, some restrictions are put in place. This can be a bit frustrating for first-time users as they have to reload pics everytime the page returns a message that it was not filled out properly.
If you can afford some patience for this first time learning curve, posting will be fine afterwards as by now you know how to comply with those restrictions.
To get around this curve completely the first time, simply post your ad without pictures, then edit it and attach the pictures. If something pissed you off,your feedback with the exact error you received is appreciated and will help us improve users experience. We read every feedback and we act on it.

Why did you delete my ad ?

Multiple reports by multiple users of a potentially abusive ad trigger the system to automatically delete the ad. Any ip or ips associated with the ad or an account are also automatically banned. The ban list is reviewed by system admin periodically to determine length or possible lifting of ban.

Ads with affiliate links to a squeeze page or any page with no contact information will be deleted.

Can I email newsletters,announcements and mailing lists using this site ?

Yes,we also offer the mailing list sign up platform for your subscribers. However,you can only email subscribers we sign up for you.You cannot import your existing mailing list.But you can ask your subscribers to sign up for your newsletters on our site. Currently,email marketing is limited to 600 members only.

How does Nortad classifieds differ from other classified ads websites ?

Nortad.com free ad posting and classifieds search is only accessible within Canada. Posting and responding to ads is not allowed from outside the country,thus providing you with both a targeted and better secured environment in comparison to other sites.
Advertisers outside Canada can only advertise via Google Adwords

Internet Explorer 8 renders a screwed up screen

If screen resolution is too big with a horizontal toolbar,please try to view the site using Firefox or another computer/laptop. If screen looks good on another browser or pc,the problem is in IE8 settings. Most likely due to an accidental keyboard hit or click messed up screen resolution. To fix it, click on View (top left),select zoom and set it to 100% if it's not already set. Failing that,double click on your desktop and select properties,then settings. Set resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels. This site is best viewed with that resolution. You can always change it back once done wih this site. Whilst there, click Advanced and make sure DPI setting is set to 96.
If this does not work either,on your browser go to View/Text size and set it to larger. This is not a virus issue,just to save you an irrelevant anti-virus scan.

Am not good at writing newsletters.Any tips to enhance my mailing list potential?

I Don't have time to visit Nortad classifieds everyday,Is there a way I can still get notified of deals am interested in ?

Definitely !
when browsing ads,if you noticed an ad category you would like to be notified of a similar one,click on "Get similar ads by email" displayed on top of each ad. Alternatively, you can subscribe to our Rss Feeds by hitting that familiar orange rss icon. That button can also allow you to add the page you are interested in to your My Yahoo,Google homepage/Reader, etc.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan after I have signed up ?

Yes.You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription plan any time you wish.
